The Department of Economics started accepting undergraduate students in the 1992-1993 academic year and produced its first graduates in 1996. The department carries out education and training activities in four main branches: “Economic Theory”, “Economic Policy”, “Economic History” and “Economic Development and International Economics”. 



For postgraduate education, the Institute of Social Sciences offers the “Thesis Master’s Program in Economics”, “Second Education Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Economics”, “Distance Education Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Economics”, “International Trade Second Education Non-Thesis Master’s Program” and “Doctorate Program in Economics”. The department has a total of 25 academic staff; 9 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 6 Assistant Professors, 3 Dr. Research Assistants and 1 Research Assistant. 



The language of our department's Economics undergraduate program is Turkish. The Turkish Economics undergraduate program is formal education. Our mission is to train economists who question and interpret economic and social phenomena and have analytical thinking skills. In addition, the Department of Economics aims to graduate responsible individuals who contribute to science, follow regional and global economic developments, create economic policy proposals and prioritize social contribution. 



Our vision is to be a dynamic, productive, internationally recognized and preferred department that produces qualified scientific publications, graduates, and responds to changing public/private sector needs. 



The aim of the Department of Economics is to teach students basic economic information and analysis methods, to develop students' research, analysis and evaluation skills, and thus to train individuals who can analyze economic events in the world and in our country, make predictions about the future and quickly adapt to constantly changing workforce characteristics.

History
Süleyman Demirel University Department of Economics was established in 1992.
Qualification Awarded
Higher Education Institutions 4-Year Faculty Graduation Degree. When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, you will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and they get the title of Economist.
Admission Requirements
Students who would like to enroll in the department, within the framework of academic and legal regulations of the university, must complete/pass all processes/exams set by OSYM. Students are accepted to the Economics undergraduate program with equal weight points. Students, who are studying in an equivalent program at home or abroad, can apply for undergraduate transfer. Every student’s conditions and degree he/she applied are taken into consideration, examined and evaluated specifically. Please see Institution’s Introduction Catalogue for more information.

Within the student exchange programs which are approved by the university and qualified by an agreement, foreign students can take classes given in English. If student has Turkish competence, he/she can take any course in Turkish which is in Lesson Plan.
Higher Grade Transition
After completing the program successfully, student can apply MA and PhD degrees both in the field of Economics and other related disciplines.
Graduation Requirements
In order to complete and attain the degree offered, there is no specific final / year-end exit test or project after the end of academic years or the completion of the program. On the other hand, students should take mid-term and final examinations of the courses they have enrolled. Those students who cannot pass the courses may also re-take some of them in Summer School if these courses are offered in the Summer School.
240 ECTS credits must be completed.
It is necessary to be successful in all courses and practices.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Economics graduates have various employment opportunities in the public and private sectors. Graduates for civil service can take the Public Personnel Selection Examination. In the private sector, they can be employed in many fields such as banking, finance and accounting.
Assessment and Grading
The final grade for each course is determined by taking 40% of the midterm exam score and 60% of the final exam score.
