History

Süleyman Demirel University Science Education Master's Program started admitting students in the 2014-2015 fall semester. The program, which currently has a total of 45 graduate students, has trained 21 science experts so far.

About us
The Department of Science Education, whose program language is Turkish, serves with a strong staff of 4 (1 Prof. Dr. - 2 Associate Professor - 1 Asst. Prof.). Graduates who successfully complete our program, which aims to develop solutions for local problems in the field, receive a science specialization degree in the field of Science Education. Students who graduate from the master's program can apply to doctoral programs in their own fields or in different fields that they meet the requirements.

Süleyman Demirel University Science Education Master's Program with Thesis aims to contribute to science at a universal level by raising individuals who are sensitive to the needs of today's world.

The vision of Süleyman Demirel University Science Education Master's Program is to be a program that keeps up with science and technology, contributes to the country in cultural dimensions as well as science, and has first national and then international prestige.

History
Süleyman Demirel University Science Education Master's Program started admitting students in the 2014-2015 fall semester. The program, currently has a total of 45 graduate students, has trained 21 science professionals so far.
Qualification Awarded
Students who have successfully completed the program take the degree of master in Science Education.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following pre-application requirements in order to apply to the Graduate Program in Science Education. The requirements are announced before the beginning of each application period.
1. To graduate from one of the Science Teaching, Physics Teaching, Chemistry Teaching or Biology Teaching Programs (Bachelor's Degrees) of Faculty of Education.
2. To get at least 60 score out of 100 from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) Quantitative Score type.
3. To have take one of the international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent to the central foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) or the international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Candidates who meet the pre-application requirements are invited to interview. Interviews are conducted by the Department according to the regulations specified in the Süleyman Demirel University Graduate Education and Training Regulations. The evaluation of the candidates is made according to the following requirements and the results are announced on the institute and department web pages.
1. The achievement score of the candidates applying to the master's program is calculated by considering 50% of the ALES score, 25% of the undergraduate program cumulative grade point average, 15% of the interview grade and 10% of the Foreign Language exam score.
2. Candidates who get at least 60 points are ranked from high to low and are accepted into the Master's programme
3. In case of equality of points, the candidate with a high ALES score is preferred.
4. Applications of candidates who do not attend the interview will be invalid.
5. Number of students to be interviewed is limited to 3 (three) times quota.
Higher Grade Transition
Students who graduate from the master's program may apply to doctoral programs in their own fields or in different fields that they meet the requirements.
Graduation Requirements
The regulations of the Süleyman Demirel University Graduate Education and Training are applied for the requirements for graduating from the program. The master's program, not less than 120 ECTS credits, consists of at least seven compulsory or elective courses, graduate seminar course, a specialization field course and Master’s Thesis. The period of the master's program is four semesters, and the program is completed in maximum of six semesters. Students who are completes the credit courses and the graduate seminar course in the curriculum, has a minimum 2.00 grade point average, and successful in the Master's thesis dissertation, meets the graduation requirements.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Individuals graduate from the Science Education Master's Program may work as teaching and research staff of universities or work in private schools, public schools and various units of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) as science professionals.
Assessment and Grading
Instructions of the Süleyman Demirel University Graduate Education and Training are applied regarding exams, measurement and evaluation. 3 different types of exams as midterm, final exam and resit exam. Exams can be done with assignment, projects, presentations or practical. The final score for a course is sum of 50% of the midterm exam score and 50% of the final exam score.
